Hi and welcome to my website
I'm Louise, Accredited Counsellor and Accredited EMDR Practitioner working from counselling rooms in Newquay, Cornwall. I offer face to face therapy for individuals and couples, on-line counselling and EMDR therapy. Some of the issues I work with are are stress, depression, childhood absuse and neglect, bereavement, bullying anxiety, abuse, domestic violence, low self esteem, low self confidence , PTSD, Trauma, sexuality although this list is not exhaustive.
About Me
Working integratively means I don't adhere to any one counselling theory. For me counselling is not 'one size fits all' so I incorporate different theories to suit the unique needs of my clients. I am in addition, trained and qualified to deliver on-line counselling and EMDR Therapy. EMDR therapy is recommended by NICE to help with the treatment of PTSD. It is also beneficial for dealing with any phobias or anxieties.
In my own private practice and work from offices in Newquay, Cornwall, I have gained a vast experience of working with people with a diverse range of issues over the years. My work has been greatly enhanced from spending time working at a Crisis Centre centre for men and woman recovering from recent or historic sexualised abuse or assaults. Additionally I provided a counselling to ex-servicemen experiencing PTSD and worked as counsellor for a domestic abuse charity.

EMDR with Louise worked really well for me. It got me in touch with layers of abuse and healed me from it. It was remarkable just how simple but effective it was. Thus there’s no need to go into the narrative of what you’re experiencing; the system relies largely on dealing with feelings rather than sharing difficult events. And there’s a ‘safe place’ strategy if it becomes too much. I would thoroughly recommend EMDR to survivors.

Easy to talk to Helpfulness Value for Money Louise is very understanding and patient. I felt like we built up a good therapeutic relationship throughout our sessions. She helped me a lot and made me look at my situation from a different perspective. She made me feel comfortable straight away even though I was very nervous during our first couple of sessions. I feel like Louise has supported me throughout the sessions and helped me overcome my problems.

I started seeing Louise about a range of complex issues having previously been sceptical about attending counselling. However, her completely non-judgemental and holistic approach was exactly what I needed and I instantly felt comfortable to open up to her completely honestly about things I have never spoken to anyone about before. Louise gave me the freedom to use the sessions according to how I felt and my needs, but her sensitive and thoughtful input was instrumental in enabling me to open up and discuss things I had not discussed with anyone previously. My sessions with Louise have given me much more personal insight and self awareness of my emotions and the causes and she enabled me to think proactively about things I can do to regulate my emotions. I am no longer sceptical at all about the positive effects that counselling can bring about and I would recommend Louise to anyone looking for a compassionate, person-centred and professional therapist.

I'm no expert in this field but what I can say for sure is that Louise has saved mine and my partner's relationship and we shall be eternally grateful for this. Having struggled with depression and anxiety over many years I realised that anti-depressants were not helping me to take control of my life. I was initially sceptical about counselling but can honestly say that it has been an incredibly empowering and life changing experience. After just eight weeks I feel more positive about myself and my future than I have in years and am now ready to move on with my life. I have no hesitation in recommending Louise as a skilled, compassionate and highly effective counsellor.
Many thanks,Rory

When I first started counselling with Louise I felt my life had hit a brick wall. As I was in my mid 40's I thought I had successfully dealt with things that I had gone through as a child and a young adult but from no-where I had started to experience nightmares and flashbacks which were robbing me of any sleep and I was unable to function properly during the day. I was so nervous before starting counselling as I had never talked about my past but Louise made me feel really comfortable, in control, at ease and listened to. She was patient to go at my pace and it was such a relief as I was finally starting to make sense of things. Louise has a naturally caring nature which came across in abundance making me feel safe to face and process memories of my past which I had previously tried to lock away. I am so grateful to have met Louise at this point in my life as I have gone from feeling isolated, ashamed and hopeless to feeling strong, in control and positive about my future. I know I still have issues to face in my life but I feel I have learnt so many coping strategies from Louise that I am no longer fearful and can tackle things as they come along.
